In this basic pottery course, you will be guided from the most fundamental knowledge of pottery to more advanced skills such as firing and pottery techniques. This course is not just a regular pottery class, but also an exciting experience that allows you to unleash their creativity and express their own pottery art.

 

You will experience pottery making in a professional studio using high-quality pottery materials, especially the famous Bat Trang clay. This is a great opportunity to create wonderful pottery products and gain a deeper understanding of the pottery craft.

 

The course is designed for pottery enthusiasts, ranging from beginners to those who already have basic knowledge. Students can register for a 07-session pottery course below or experience a few pottery workshops before committing to the course.

 

This course is for:

- Those who love pottery and wish to develop handcrafted pottery techniques. No prior experience or knowledge is required.

- Anyone who loves art; spending time learning pottery not only helps develop skills but also broadens the view of the art world.

- Participants who have attended experiential pottery classes and want to improve their practical skills.

- Teachers at international schools who need to supplement and develop teaching skills.

 

Course Duration:

This pottery class lasts for 07 sessions, each lasting about 3 hours, giving students enough time to experience and learn basic and advanced pottery skills.

 

Course Fee:

6,300,000 VND per person per course

- The course fee includes all firing and glazing costs.

- The course is valid for 06 months. If not completed, students can extend for a fee of 100,000 VND per week.

 

 

What will you learn in this course?

 

Session 01 - Basic Introduction

Instructor: Huỳnh Thị Diệu Linh

- Introduction to tools, equipment, and safety principles.

- Introduction to the steps and processes of hand-built pottery:

- The origin, formation, and development of hand-built pottery (from ancient times to today).

- The composition of different types of clay for pottery (basic physical and chemical differences through perception, color, etc.)

- Steps and preparation of clay before practicing pottery.

 

Sessions 02+03 - Hand-building Techniques with Various Tools

Instructor: Huỳnh Thị Diệu Linh

- Creating slab-built pottery forms.

- Shaping on a manual potter's wheel.

- Shaping using sculpting methods, etc.

 

Session 04 - Introduction to Pottery Glazes and Application Techniques: Painting, Glazing, Decals, & Firing

Instructor: Hướng dẫn: Huỳnh Thị Diệu Linh

- What are pottery glazes made of and how are they created?

- Using brushes to paint on pottery.

- Using various tools to create different surface textures and effects.

 

Session 05 - Basic Wheel Throwing Techniques

Instructor: Từ Kỳ Long

- Introduction to wheel throwing tools.

- Learning to wedge clay, center clay, create flat bottoms, and form cylinders.

 

Session 06 - Wheel Throwing Form Techniques

Instructor: Từ Kỳ Long

- Perfecting clay centering skills.

- Creating basic forms (cup, bowl, plate) and shapes of personal preference.

 

Session 07 - Pottery Trimming and Glazing Techniques

Instructor: Hướng dẫn: Từ Kỳ Long

- Trimming techniques.

- Glazing techniques, including three techniques: Dipping, Pouring, Spraying.
